The best of times and the worst of times.
It was an up and down weekend. Friday night I had the pleasure of helping my dad out with the ASCS Midwest race at the Junction Motor Speedway. It was a blast to be able to be a part of an event like that and something that I could see doing for a career.
Saturday night was different. I stayed home from Eagle on Saturday to finish moving. We were on the way to my new place when I received a call from Aaron Allgood telling me about the accident at Eagle.
I can't really talk about it all that much, since I wasn't there and don't know the full story. My only hope on the matter is that the individual involved has a complete recovery from his injuries. I felt strange for not being at the track on a Saturday night, but very glad that I missed that scene.
Certainly the best of times and the worst of times for local racing this weekend.
My Take...
The move is over! Thank God! Now I remember why I don't like packing up all of my junk and moving it. Luckily I had some great help and was able to get it done this weekend. Otherwise I'd still be running up and down stairs with my life in boxes.
I felt very good about our show at JMS. There looked to be a pretty decent size Friday crowd and the race had some great battles throughout.
-The Lovegrove Race team with driver Don Droud Jr. stopped at the dealership to display the car. We didn't get the turnout we were hoping for but very thankful for the guys for stopping in.
-There's something about running in Nebraska that brings the best out of Missouri native Brian Brown. It seems the guy wins just about every ASCS show at Junction.
-Before the show started I walked the pits and talked to some of the drivers. All were very accommodating and nice to talk with.
-I had to address the drivers during the pit meeting. I was a little nervous but felt pretty cool at the same time. I could definitely get used to that type of thing...
-Natalie Sather chose the 94 because of her favorite radio station back home. Jack Dover runs 53 because it's the number his dad ran; although Jack was quick to point out he is much better than his dad was. Trevor Grossenbacher is 35 because that's Tyler Walker's old number. Chuck Swenson is X simply because he wanted something nobody else had. Doug Lovegove chose 44 because both he and his brother have names that start with D.
-Trish Dover had a nice run in her first ever 360 start. She made the A and stayed out of trouble. I would imagine her parents had a tough time keeping track of both kids in the same race.
-It sure looked like the employees of Moses Motor Company were having a good time. Many of them had never been to a sprint car race before and I think they came away impressed.

-The "B Girls" that helped me hand out the koozies and Frisbees had a great time. They seemed to be a popular duo in the pit area as well.

-I have to give a big thanks to Wayne Dake and Eric Allgood for their great job on Friday. They both promoted Moses Motor Company throughout the night, and even allowed me to pub the site a little bit as well. I hope I can work with those guys again sometime in the future.
-California's Adam Main was the unlucky recipient of the Built Ford Tough-Tough Luck Award. Main got upside down in his heat and wasn't able to return to action.
And Finally...
I had hoped to jump on here yesterday and do some updating. However unpacking took over and I wasn't able to get online until now.
I would like to once again thank everyone involved for making it a great Friday night at the races. From the JMS staff to the push truck drivers, crews and drivers, and to each and every fan that was there. We couldn't have done any of this without you.
