A New Operator!
I got a big kick out of this thanks to Rodney Droud's weekly race recaps. His son, Isaiah runs an outlaw kart at Little Sunset Speedway on Friday nights.
Little Sunset (ISAIAH) It had been three weeks since Isaiah ran the Oval Operations #2 Outlaw Kart and we were looking for some improvement from that time, which we feel we got.
The night began with the make-up feature, where Isaiah and Tyler Zander (2Z) were the only two karts returning. Although Zander got the jump and opened the gap early, Isaiah began to make some good laps and closed that gap by the end.
The two heats, preceding the second "A", saw Isaiah finish second in the first race, but in the last heat he took the checkers first- his first win of the season.
Several changes were made prior to the Main Event to see if we could get him some more speed. Unfortunately, the one thing we didn't do is dial in his motor.
At the green, it stumbled horribly, dropping him back to fourth from his front row starting position as they headed into Turn 1. Isaiah had a heated battle with Ed Bowes (57) for two laps and once he moved into third, he began to make ground on the second place kart. Even though he was turning his fastest laps of the night, he eventually ran out of time and came home third. All in all, it was a GREAT weekend for the DARE 2 Team! Who knows which part of the "world" we'll be at this weekend!
