COMMENTARY-Belleville Nationals, Night #2
It was another good night of racing on the Belleville High Banks. Brad Sweet driving a Kasey Kahne-owned Mopar led all forty laps of the championship feature to capture his first ever Belleville Nationals Championship.
Sweet was followed by Bobby East, Kasey Kahne Racing teammate Brady Bacon, Cole Whitt and Tracy Hines.
My Take...
-Only thirty three cars qualified on Friday night, and there were even fewer last night. For a "Nationals" event, that car count is a joke.
-Not one car got upside down on the weekend. That could be the best stat of all.
-Jerry Coons Jr. had what appeared to be another motor failure last night. I don't know how many powerplants the Wilke-Pak team brought with them, but I don't think they'll have many left when they return home.
-Kevin Swindell put on a show. Swindell won the B main, and charged up through the A feature field. He made it as far as second, when his abused right rear tire finally gave out, forcing him to retire.
-I REALLY wanted the Klatt/East team to pull out the victory, but it wasn't meant to be. Bobby looked like he got everything out of the car he could, but he just couldn't catch Sweet, who drove a flawless race.
-I'm preparing to leave for Iowa in a couple hours, so I may not be able to update as much in the coming week.
